I was lucky enough to be offered an Artist Residency on Eilean Sionnach, a small, private Island off the coast of the Isle of Skye. This is a short video of my time spent there, painting out in the elements and reacting to the ever-changing light. This little tidal island, has a very unique feeling, as you are cut off from civilisation when the tide returns, the only people passing are the odd yacht or fish farm boat. The cosy lighthouse cottage is a real sanctuary from the elements. It truly was an escape. It was an amazing week for watching the weather fronts blowing by, punctuated with wonderful encounters with the wildlife. I watched an otter fishing and eating its dinner on the rocks just feet away from me. A sea eagle soared over my head, and a flock of gannets, lit up against the brooding mountains, diving into the sea like shiny daggers. I have come away, totally inspired and look forward to returning one day.
