A Warm Welcome to the Summer

Following a really successful Solo Show on Isle of Skye in May, I have been busy packing and sending paintings to their new homes.

I feel so grateful to everyone who came along and supported me, to both returning and new customers. Thank you all so much.

I have also completed a couple of commissions which have been received well.

It's always a bit of a nervous moment, showing a client their commissioned painting.

But all went well. Phew !

"Out of the Shadows"

I'm delighted to have five paintings in the Glasgow Gallery's Summer Exhibition which opens on 27th June until 18th July at 182 Bath Street, Glasgow G2 4HG ,along with 7 other talented artists.

If you're in Glasgow pop along and have a look, they also have some beautiful work by Ceramics, Woodwork and Glass artists.

Good to get back out sketching.

I attempted to video myself out drawing, holding my camera in my left hand and drawing with my right. Easier said than done. It's quite hard to remember not to move your left hand and yes I need a proper tripod/stand, but it gives a wee glimpse into the process. This is just in my sketchbook, to get me back into being outside and capturing the essence of a place, that place being a quarter of a mile from my house.

I love the freedom and immediacy of the marks you get when you're outside in the landscape, reacting instinctively with all of your senses.

.

I have a few exciting painting trips coming up, so will keep you posted.

Until then enjoy all the flora and fauna the summer brings.

All best wishes,

Helen
