From my view of the Five Sisters of Kintail in Ratagan ………

……..to the view from the gallery door in Isle Ornsay, Skye.
My solo exhibition is underway and off to a great start.
I have had a lot of visitors into the gallery and received some great feedback.
My work is speaking to people which is all I hope for.
After all the preparation, before a big solo show, it’s so nice to pause and view the paintings up on the walls and see how they relate to one another. Sitting in the gallery with the paintings, when it’s quiet, allows me time to reflect on the past year’s work and see how things have evolved.

I love to see people’s reactions and hear which ones they like and why. One lady said she could feel the sand between her toes looking at my shore paintings. Another lady said she could imagine the warmth about to hit her as she walked out of the shadow and into the sun, in one of my works.
Often people say they feel they could just step into my paintings. I love that!

“Memories in Stone” Ardnamurchan Mixed Media

I’m painting while in the gallery, in between chatting to people.
Visitors are very interested in seeing the process.

On my drive back and forth every day, I pass this view to Beinn Sgritheall on the mainland. One of my favourite views to paint.

The other day I caught sight of a rainbow, it’s pot of gold at the foot of Beinn Sgritheall.

“Spring Morning”
Knock Bay, Skye

The gallery is so unique compared to other galleries, in that the artist gets to meet the public directly. I have met some really interesting people from Switzerland, Italy, France, Australia and the USA.
I have been humbled by the lovely comments and reactions from everyone and touched when my work has made several people quite emotional.
I am here on Skye until 27th May.
Until next time, enjoy the May sunshine,
Helen
